OLIVIA TALKS

The start of something new

I’m Olivia - the one behind the camera, behind the edits, behind the late-night planning, and honestly… behind a lot of “wow, I can’t believe this is my job” moments. Photography wasn’t something I woke up one day and decided to do. It’s something that slowly became a part of me, the same way certain people and places do.

I’ve always been drawn to the real stuff - the unposed laughs, the messy hair moments, the quiet in-betweens that most people don’t even notice. That’s the kind of beauty I chase.

I’m not perfect, and I don’t pretend to be. Sometimes I trip over my own camera bag. Sometimes I overthink every shot until I remind myself why I started: to capture people exactly as they are. Not staged versions. Not filtered versions. Just… real.

What I love most about photography is how personal it becomes. It’s not just clicking a button - it’s stepping into someone else’s world for a moment. The trust people give me isn’t something I take lightly. Every time someone chooses me, it’s a reminder that what I do matters to someone beyond me, and that feeling still hits me every time I send out a gallery.

Outside of work, I’m pretty simple. I love a slow morning, spending time with my people and of course learning more about myself and how I can do better. I’m still figuring things out, same as everyone - but the one thing I know for sure is that this is what I’m meant to be doing.

And if you’ve made it here, thank you for being part of it.

Today, as my first official blog post I wanted to talk about the start of something new. I feel like anytime you start something new it can be scary. It doesn't matter if it's a business, a hobby, a new relationship, or a big creative leap - the start of something new always feels heavier than it should. The start of something new means there is no safety net, no routine, and no proof you will succeed.

The truth I have discovered is there is a reason for that heavy feeling. People like me and you are programmed to like what is ahead and what you can expect. So when things change, fear rises to the surface.

But here is the part that isn't always acknowledged: Your not fearful because your weak - your afraid because you care.

And honestly? That's exactly how I feel writing this blog. The thought of hitting "publish" makes my stomach flip a little. It's different. It's me stepping into a new space I haven't shared or even fully explored enough myself. But that's OK. I say this because every time we do something new the possibilities are endless.

The start of something new may always feel scary - but I do believe that's the whole point. I get to watch myself grow and become more confident with every choice I make.

So if your here, reading this, thank you for being apart of my starting something new. I don't exactly know if this blog will go anywhere, but I will continue to show up...... and I'm grateful you're here with me as I figure it out.
